Grampa Grunts is one of the top rated ski dorms in the East. We offer a relaxed environment most suitable for college aged skiers and snowboarders. We are located only 7 miles from Jay Peak Ski Resort and only 1.5 miles from Hazen’s Notch Association Cross Country Ski Area and surrounded by hundred’s of miles of VAST snowmobiling trails.
Open all year round: Off-season is great for wedding’s party’s, bachelor and bachelorette party’s, get away’s, hunters retreats, group gatherings and an array of other special events.
Great for Hikers: Located at the end of rt.58 and central to several Long Trail Access points, Montgomery makes for an ideal place to rest, restock and re-boot. Hikers find the ‘kitchen and laundry amenities’ help too.
History: The building was originally built for the Atlas Plywood Company as an office in the late 1800’s. In 1969, Ted purchased and later converted it to Granny Grunts Dorm by adding two more stories and a cafeteria accommodating 60 skiers and snowboarders. After many decades and practically books of unique events, ‘Grampa’s Dream’ continues on… The Lodge is now named Grampa Grunts Lodge and most people are quoted to consider us a “rare finding-” We thank them for their dedication year after year, and always encourage new generations to come share stories and build memories.
